ポルトガルからの留学生マリアさんが半年間、私たちと共に研究することになりました（ようこそ～！！）。ポルトガルは昔から日本との関わりの深い国です。とはいえ、意外とポルトガルと言ったらコレだよ、というのがあまり頭に浮かびません（コロンブス、ヴァスコ・ダ・ガマを私は思い出しました…）。ここでお会いできたのも何かのご縁です。異文化交流を深めて、勇気ある知識人を目指していけたらいいなぁと思います。

Maria, an international student from Portugal, has decided to study with us for half a year. Welcome to Higashiyama laboratory!! Portugal has been deeply involved in Japan since long ago. But, it does not come to our mind that Portugal is about “THIS”. (I came up with Columbus and Vasco da Gama.) It must be some kind of fate that we met here. I hope to deepen cross-cultural exchange and aim for intellectuals with courage.
